Solbar Food Technologies turns soybeans into key components that our 150+ customers rely upon in two main areas:
> animal feed (for livestock and poultry)
> food products for humans: primarily baking products and frozen products, along with chocolate, prepared salads, fried chicken and canned tuna
Those key components are:
Soy Meal
Soy meal is the main product of the soybean-crushing process.
Use
Soy meal is most commonly used in animal feed because it provides energy and high levels of protein. The ratio of high protein and low fiber contributes to the growth and development of poultry and eggs, and a high dairy yield.
Soy Hulls
Soy hulls are generated from the de-hulling process before the oil is extracted. This helps to retrieve approximately 98 percent of the available soybean meal.
Use
This is a complementary product going mainly to feed dairy cows. Soybean hulls are a very good source of fiber and protein.
Soapstock
Soapstock is a concentrated solution of salt from fatty acids obtained when refining soybean oil.
Use
Soapstock is added to animal feed for its high energy value.
Crude Soybean Oil
Crude soybean oil consists of fatty acids, including linoleic, palmitic and oleic acids.
Use
Crude soybean oil has several industrial applications (including in producing margarine) and also is used to produce biodiesel.
Refined Soybean Oil
Refined soybean oil results from removing the impurities of crude soybean oil through de-gumming and neutralizing.
Use
Refined soybean oil is used in commercial food processing.
Lecithin
Lecithin is an amphiphilic substance extracted during the de-gumming of crude oil.
Use
Lecithin is used for smoothing food textures, emulsifying, homogenizing liquid mixtures and repelling sticky materials.
